Examples of when to use the Data Generator
Bank holidays

If bank holidays are deducted from employees' holiday entitlement, you can use the Data Generator to create a bulk absence When an employee or worker is absent from work. This can be for a variety of reasons. record.

Festive closures
In addition to Bank Holidays, your business may close between Christmas and New Year.
Data Generator tips
Before using the Data Generator, make sure to add an absence type that is not added or deducted from the holiday balance.
If you do not want employees to request this:

Go to System Tools > Lookup Tables > Absence > Absence Type and select Create New.

From the Code list, select Unauthorised.

Complete all other mandatory fields and Save.
Use the Data Generator
These instructions are based on a Festive Closure example.

Go to System Tools > Utilities > Data > Generator and select Absence from the Absence Type list.

Complete the Date From and Date To fields.

Make sure to select an Absence Type and Absence Reason.

Select Save once you are happy to create the absence record.
The system then adds this absence record to all current employees (providing you have not used the Employee Selector).
You must manually add your absence records to all new starters' Absence tabs.
