New Starter Pro Rata Calculation
This is the New Starter Holiday Pro-Rata formula:
(Holiday Entitlement / months in an Absence When an employee or worker is absent from work. This can be for a variety of reasons. Year)*(Full months to work this year + (partial starting month))
This is only a guide and your company policies may calculate the balance differently. You can manually change this at any time in the employee's My Details > Personal.
If you update the Holiday fields, the system will recalculate the balance back to the Holiday Entitlement + Holiday Brought Forward, and you must work out the pro-rata manually.
A working example of the New Starter Holiday Pro-Rata:
Start Date: 08/06/2023 (Personal tab)
Absence Year: 01/01/2023 - 31/12/2023 (back-end via support)
Holiday Entitlement: 23 (Contract Tab)
Months in an Absence Year: 12 (Absence Year)
Full months to be worked: 6 (Based on Start Date)
Portion of starting month: 0.733 (Based on Start Date)
So this becomes:
(23 / 12) * (6 + ((30-8)/30))
Which broken down is:
23 / 12 = 1.917 (Holiday accrued per month)
(30 - 8) / 30 = 0.733 (Portion of starting month)
6 + 0.733 = 6.733 (total months to be worked as a decimal)
1.917 * 6.733 = 12.91 (New Starter Holiday Pro Rata to two decimal places)
