Unassign a Position

An employee may have a Position assigned for an unlimited or a specific period. There are two ways to unassign a Position from an employee:

  • Set the employee's Contract End Date to a date in the past.

  • Manually unassign the Position.

An admin can manually unassign a Position from an employee. To do this:

  1. Go to Directories, select the employee and choose Edit.

  2. Choose Assignments. The employee's Assignments display across the top of the screen.

  3. To remove the Assignment from the employee, select Unassign.

  4. After confirming your decision, the Assignment displays in Assignments History. Scroll to the bottom of the page to view this.

When unassigning a Position, you must consider:

  • If this is the employee's Primary Position? Does the employee have multiple assignments? If so, you must select another Position to set as the primary.

  • Is the employee the primary incumbent for a shared Position? If so, you must select another Primary Incumbent for the Position.
